NIO Opens Its First Latin American Store in Costa Rica

Deon

NIO officially opened its first store in Costa Rica on March 26, marking the company’s debut in the Latin American market. The NIO Center | San Jose is located in Combai Mercado Urbano, in the San Rafael de Escazú district of San Jose, and was built in partnership with Horizontes Cielo Azul, NIO’s general agent in the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by Yu Shanjun, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Costa Rica, among other guests.

The store is also notable as NIO’s first overseas location to carry all three of its brands — NIO, Ledao, and Firefly — simultaneously. Vehicles currently available for purchase include the NIO ET5 Touring, NIO EL6, NIO EL8, Ledao L60, and the Firefly. The Ledao L90 is expected to begin pre-sales on April 16 at EXPOMOVIL, Costa Rica’s annual auto show.

The NIO Center functions as an experience space, featuring a gallery, café, negotiation rooms, and open event areas.

Horizontes Cielo Azul, described as the largest electric vehicle dealer in Costa Rica, will manage local operations. The company has previously brought Chinese automotive brands to market leadership in the country.
